SUICIDE SAFER SCHOOLS

Suicide Safer Schools: Breaking The Stigma Early

Empowering students. Equipping staff. Saving lives.

At The Martin Gallier Project, we believe suicide prevention starts with education — and there’s no better place to begin than with our young people.

In our bid to create a Suicide Safer Community, we're on a mission to get as many schools across the North West as possible Suicide Safer. Suicide is still an uncomfortable and often taboo subject, but it's becoming an urgent issue among young people in our communities. We’re here to change that — by supporting students, training staff, and giving entire school communities the tools to talk openly about suicide and mental health.

Why Become a Suicide Safer School?

Being a Suicide Safer School means actively working to break the stigma around suicide and supporting every student’s mental wellbeing. You’ll be helping young people:

🍌 Recognise the signs their friends may be struggling
🍌 Feel empowered to ask difficult questions and support each other
🍌 Understand suicide prevention as everyone’s business

🍌 Learn that it’s OK to talk about suicide – and that help is available

For schools, it means:

🍌 Building trust with pupils and their families
🍌 Gaining access to internationally recognised training
🍌 Acquiring transferable life-saving skills
🍌 Creating a more empathetic and connected school community
🍌 Opening doors for collaboration with external mental health organisations

What’s Included in the Programme?

1-Hour Suicide Awareness Talks for Students – £80 per session

These age-appropriate, interactive and engaging talks are delivered to every year group from Year 7 to Year 13. They tackle suicide stigma head-on in a way young people understand and respond to. Plus, students get a VIP appearance from Beatrice the Banana, making the session memorable and impactful.

Support for Parents & Guardians

We understand that suicide doesn’t just affect young people — it impacts families too. While we don’t provide direct support for under-16s, we offer:
