Cheshire & Merseyside Suicide Bereavement Service
Working together for those affected by suicide loss.
Powered by The Martin Gallier Project & Alfie’s Squad
Together with Alfie's Squad, we're proud to deliver the Cheshire & Merseyside Suicide Bereavement Service, combining specialist knowledge, lived experience and compassionate care for people of every age affected by suicide loss.
With no waiting lists, no criteria and no barriers to access, we're here to listen, to understand and to walk beside you for as long as you need us.
Whether your bereavement happened today or decades ago, we're here whenever you feel ready. There is no waiting for the "right time" to ask for help, because grief doesn't follow a timeline, and neither do we.
Who can access support?
Suicide loss affects families, friends, workplaces and entire communities. Our service is here for anyone affected by a suicide loss across Cheshire & Merseyside.
That includes:
Children, young people & adults
Parents, partners, siblings & wider family members
Friends, neighbours, colleagues and classmates
Witnesses or anyone directly impacted by the death
Professionals affected by the suicide of someone they were caring for or working with
Anyone grieving the loss of someone to suicide, regardless of their relationship
Our Promise to You:
The Martin Gallier Project offers timely, barrier-free support.
We'll begin by listening. Our first conversation is about understanding you, your story and the person you've lost. Together, we'll explore what you need right now and agree the next steps that feel right for you.
Support is tailored to every individual and may include:
Understanding the grief that can follow suicide
Emotional support and compassionate listening
Practical guidance following a death
Support around the inquest process
Help talking to children and young people about suicide in an age-appropriate way
Preparing for birthdays, anniversaries and other difficult dates
Strengthening your support network
Helping you access other services where needed
Ongoing support as your needs change over time
Some days you'll need somebody to listen.
Some days you'll need practical advice.
Most days you'll probably need a little of both.
Support for children and young people
Children experience grief in their own way, and every child deserves support that is gentle, compassionate and right for their age and stage of development.
In partnership with Alfie's Squad, we provide specialist support for children, young people and their families following a suicide loss. Together, we create a safe space where children can express their thoughts and feelings, ask questions when they're ready, and feel understood.
We encourage honest, age-appropriate conversations about suicide, helping children make sense of what has happened without unnecessary detail or confusion. Families are supported every step of the way, giving parents and carers the confidence to navigate these conversations together.
Because when a child is bereaved, the whole family deserves support.
How to access support
Accessing help is simple.
Complete our online referral form below or by clicking"Access Help"anywhere on The Martin Gallier Project website.
